I am Dan Dawson and this is my evaluation on our group 12T-13's film sequence of our post-apocalyptic Britain containing a lot of tension and suspense. Our two minute clip from the film show's our hero in a small dark room which reflects this feelings from his past which he has to live with for the rest of his life.
Our group came up with a few idea's which we decided were too hard to make a part of the film, we ended up agreeing on a zombie genre about Britain which we thought would be easier if we didn't show the zombies but we created the idea that they were on the other side of the door. The genre we worked on was horror because it was based on an infected race destroying Britain and its population, it influenced us too find a convincing location and setting for the best possibility in our filming.
As director I feel I have effected the narrative by discussing thought's with the other people in my group, such as suggesting the location of filming and giving Alex idea's whilst he wrote up overall narrative, I think we came up with a good film idea and we worked well together and created a good film sequence.
As a group we all sat round the table and talked about what are overall idea and character details such as Alex wearing a tank top and a bandage to create the lone hero image which worked well with the sequence as one of the last survivors in Britain. Once we came up with the idea of our film sequence and after we made the shot list we didn't change anything apart from getting different angle shot's of the shot lists too add more dimention to our film showing the whole 3-D view of the entire room.
As director im not sure how the audience would respond to my micro aspect apart from them complimenting all the other micro aspect's which i helped in the process of making and editing the film sequence. The feedback i received was on Mise-en-scene which said "The empty room had a good effect, made you focus on the raido," and "Typical dress of a hero - tank top and bandagae added to this effect." On Mise-en-scene we got no negative feedback but one thing i would of improved on was possibly moving the fan which was in the camera shot for roughly two seconds which we didn't move.
I think as me and Richard both take film and media we were able too bring that little bit more out of our final piece which has helped but Alex and Will did a lot of work too make it the best it could possibly be.
I directed pretty well I feel, I made sure we finished our filming in one shoot because of the distance some group members had too travel and so Matthew James didn't have too rent us out another room at a later date. I was told I was taking control of the work too much but thats what directors have to do making sure everyone is happy and the filming and editing is the best it can be which is what happened in the end so they shuddn't be complaining.
At the end of all of this I am happy how the film sequence has come out and i wouldn't chance anything major in it only little details which dont really matter at the end of the day because we weren't skilled enough too for example blend Will's voice over in with the back ground sound too well or get the volume of it just write but I think it is really good and would enjoy watching it if i would see it.

Characters costume:
Alex's costume will be a typical lone heroes clothing, he will be wearing a tank top which will be dirty because our film extract is more to the middle of the film where he escapes from a group of survivors and zombies who has been injured.
Set in a zombie Britain there’s a few survivors left in Cambridge and there isolated from each other. The remaining government workers send out a broadcast saying there’s a boat in Dover leaving in a two days time however there’s only 200 spaces left on the boat and the remaining spaces are allocated by a first come first served.
The hero in our story hears this just after he’s been forced to killed his only daughter after she had been infected but a lone zombie, he is just about to give up on life and commit suicide when he hears the broadcast and he decides he’s going to live for his daughter and so sets off for Dover, how ever groups of other survivors are killing other remaining survivors they encounter to increase their chances of escaping from Britain.
Our hero manages to join up with a group of survivors but he is forced to help kill other survivors which shows the dog eat dog world in its prime. They meet up with a large family, the group butcher them and take everything that could be considered valuable, the hero then sees a girl that reminds him of his daughter and he is disgusted with himself and decides to leave the group and continue alone but the group attack and he get hurt by them/injures himself while running he then stumbles into a room to hide while he recovers he then wakes up and he’s surrounded by infected, he has to fight his way out.
He then proceeds to go to Dover only to find the remains of the group being attacked by the infected he then run's to try and help them only to save the leader of the group who tried to kill our hero they then realise when they get into Dover their is one spot left on the boat and it is leaving in 3 minutes, the leader of the group tries to kill our hero but the infected are closing in on them and the boat they both race to the ship, almost their the group leader throws sand and pushes our hero into a building then goes to board the ship our hero makes it out as the ship is leaving only to realise he failed and him saving the group leader stopped him getting out what happens to our hero no one know.
(As our hero has fallen to his knee's and the ship sails away the camera zooms out to show a large amount of infected zombies walking towards him and fades out - making a possible for a sequel aswell as leaving the viewers with a cliff hanger not knowing what will happen next)
This is only the trailer but i really like how the director has chosen how to shot different parts in The Strangers this is really good because it creates tension which leaves the viewers shocked, i am very intrested in how one of the strangers is walking behind a character who is unaware that he is behind him, bits like this occur in the film and is really smart making The Strangers scary.
I also like how you never see the strangers face's leaving it to your imagination because they hide behind their masks until they capture the characters in the house and even at that point you only see shouts from bottom of the neck down. The scene is typical a house in a kind of foresty area on its own, making a obvious place were people would be murdered.

After watching this i like the overall mise-en-scene in the mountians and a helicopter which sets an overall surrounding but it doesn't show an overall impression until you see Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey). I am also intrested in the choice of words used when characters are speaking to each other, its smart and funny. The choice of clothing Ace is wearing compared to the helicopter pilot is wearing shows that he stands out and is the main character, u can also tell this from his hair style because it also standards out.
Then it goes from the mountians to a temple of monks this is smart because monk temples are assocated with mountians and far away from civilization to reach enlightenment, i like this because the scenes link together very well.
