Will's cinematography inspiration

Al Pacino Scarface

The cinematography in this scene from Al Pacino scarface when he is at the restaurant for the second time inspires me as it starts off with the camera focusing only on Al Pacino to show that he is the main focus of the scene and then slowly pans out so that you can see other characters who are minor to the scene this is shown here with Al Pacino in the middle of the shot and shows he has the most power as he is at the head of the table.

Later on when he stands up and everyone is silent and listening to what Al Pacino is saying even if they don't want to as they are in fear of him and don't want to start anything as they know that they would lose.

However the power is stripped away when the female gets angry and all of a sudden the camera shows her as being higher than the camera and they make the camera look down upon Al Pacino and overall make him look smaller than the female character.

Be Kind Rewind Ghostbusters film

I find this really good as it shows loads of different things that you can do cheaply and effectively with just a hand held camcorder if it is filmed correctly and no random heads are shown or having people larger in the screen than they should be.

They also show power through characters actions and the tools they have even though they are cheap rubbish like tinsel it can help make you believe that it is happening like the bit where they shoot a blank room then shoot the exact same spot with one of the guys in it with a green bin bag over him and then add a little noise to make you believe that it has appeared out of thin air.
